The clutch is a mechanical organ which has the function of connecting two shafts on command to allow, or not, and possibly modulate the transmission of rotary motion. The typical application is sandwiched in the transmission between the engine and the gearbox.

• a clutch disc (see our section “central clutch disc”)
• a pressure plate (see section “pressure plate”)
• sometimes even one or more bearings and a second disc
• Forks, sleeves, springs (depending on the type of tractor these additional items may also be included)
